GREEN TROMBEWALL
DATE: january 2022
LOCATION: Kitakyushu, Japan
PROGRAM: research
AREA: 0,75 sq.m.
This is a setup made for research purposes at University of Kitakyushu grounds. It is designed to study the thermal impact of water mass and plant transpiration on the space behind the glass, which is used for passive heating in winter but stays idle in winter. The goal is to make the trombe wall space more productive in summer by growing edible vegetables (basil in this example) inside the glazed cavity, and to extend the plant’s lifespans by keeping them inside the trombe wall throughout winter.
